I am a recent graduate of Kenyon College, where I majored in International Development Studies and Spanish Area Studies. As a student at Kenyon, I tutored my peers in invention strategies, academic structure and content, and projects that were not of academic nature. I really like to assist individuals to refine their own voice and improve their communication ability through the written word. I also helped as an assistant to teach Spanish to individuals at the beginning level for a couple of years. I studied abroad in Santiago, Chile my junior year of college. From my experiences as a teacher and language learner, I know the areas that are most challenging for English speakers of the Spanish language and how to get these concepts across to the individual effectively. I have tutored students in private sessions who found themselves struggling with their classes. I am able to help them prepare for the English and Reading sections of the ACT and SAT tests because of my experience with the strategies I used as a National AP Scholar and National Merit Scholar in high school. I believe that each individual is entitled to a study strategy that is uniquely designed to their strengths, abilities, and needs. I am excited to be pursuing my PhD in Sociology with a focus on Latino immigration into America. And after that, I am off to teach English at an Argentine college (an opportunity provided to me by the Fulbright program). For fun, I really like to bike, play music, and read.
